Is the TurboMax engine good enough or do I need the V8?
This is the question we get most. The 2.7L TurboMax makes 430 lb-ft of torque — actually more than the 5.3L V8's 383 lb-ft. Not a typo. The four-cylinder turbo produces more torque than the V8 in standard form. For everyday driving, moderate towing, and keeping fuel costs down, the TurboMax is genuinely impressive with its 8-speed automatic. If you tow near the Duramax's 13,300-lb maximum (Max Trailering Package) regularly, want the V8 sound and throttle response, or just prefer eight cylinders, the 5.3L and 6.2L are outstanding with their 10-speed automatics. You can do either. We keep a strong selection in stock across trims and configurations. If we don't have the exact combination you want, we can locate one from another dealer or place a factory order to your specs.
