The Tahoe is the full-size SUV that balances capability, tech, and value. For 2026, you get a standard 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in — the largest standard display in the segment — plus available Super Cruise hands-free driving, up to 122.7 cubic feet of cargo, and a choice of three engines including the only diesel in the full-size SUV class (the Duramax 3.0L inline-six with 495 lb-ft of torque). Tahoe seats up to 9 with the available front bench, earned a 5-star NHTSA driver frontal crash rating, and starts at $60,700 — thousands less than a comparably equipped Ford Expedition or Toyota Sequoia.

Honest breakdown: the Sequoia leads on raw towing at about 9,500 lbs, and the Expedition edges the Tahoe too (up to 9,300 lbs) — Tahoe tops out at 8,400 lbs properly equipped. Most buyers will never tow anywhere near those numbers. On everything else, the Tahoe is competitive or better: the only diesel in the class (Duramax 3.0L, 495 lb-ft), a standard 17.7-inch touchscreen vs. Expedition's 13.2-inch center screen, 122.7 cu-ft of max cargo (vs. Sequoia's 86.9), a lower starting price, Super Cruise that works while towing, and the ability to seat up to 9 passengers. The Sequoia is hybrid-only now — Tahoe gives you three different powertrains to pick from.

Strong track record. The Tahoe uses the same proven T1 truck platform as the Silverado and Suburban, with well-sorted gas V8s (5.3L and 6.2L) that have been in production for over a decade and a Duramax 3.0L inline-six with a strong reliability track record. The 2026 earned a 5-star NHTSA driver frontal crash rating and 5-star side-impact ratings. Every new Tahoe includes a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and for 2026 an 8-year OnStar services trial is now standard. The LT and RST are the sweet spots. The LT at $63,700 steps you up from the base LS with features like leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote start, power liftgate, and heated front seats — without jumping into luxury money. This is the question we get most. The 5.3L V8 is standard on LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier. It makes 355 HP and 383 lb-ft of torque and is the most balanced choice for most buyers — decent MPG, plenty of power, proven reliability. The 6.2L V8 (420 HP, 460 lb-ft) is standard on High Country and available on RST/Z71/Premier — pick it if you want maximum gas power and premium fuel is fine. For 2026, the Tahoe gets a larger 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen standard across all trims, Google built-in integration, and 8 years of OnStar services included. The available 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel has been bumped to 305 HP and 495 lb-ft of torque (up from prior model years). Each of the six trims gets a unique front grille design, and the RST Dark Essentials Package is a new dealer-installed option that blacks out RST styling elements.
